create a place where people can plan trips together
I am always wondering who else has the day off when I plan a trip out alone, and often do find other people out there, and I think about the gas that could have been saved if we had carpooled. I think it would be neat to have some sort of upcoming trip planner, where someone would post a trip they have coming up on a certain date, and other people could look at it and decide if it was something they would like to do, within their skill level, etc. Then the people could PM or exchange other contact…

My name is Mike Zimmerman. I strongly recommend that you take Dave Daly off of the Umpah Point page as I wrote it in 2002
I, Mike Zimmerman, wrote this page originally back in 2002 before 2/27/05 and some of the photos are mine (including the main photo which is mine I took it in February 2002 I know my photos) and I have two direct witnesses to corraborate this; please remove Dave Daley's name and put the Page:By name as Mike Zimmerman. This is clearly plagerism of my work I did on this, I do not appreciate this and it is wrong! He does not deserve getting credit for creating this page originally, I did!! Thank you

Make it easier or users to customize their profile page.
Currently you pretty much have to be an HTML expert to customize your profile page by using the 'a few words' and free form fields on the page. It might be interesting if there was a template more like we have for creating a mountain page, so that users could more easily change fonts, include pictures, etc...

Option on the Profile to Set Default Editor
It would be helpful if on the profile we could set the default editor for working with content. I would still like the temporary switch link as well. I'd suggest the new editor be the default for the radio buttons.

List StatusTracking
Provide users the ability to track their completion status of lists (parents) by providing mountains completed, mountains pending, etc.

Make adding existing images easier
When inserting an image, if you already know the image id, you shouldn't have to search your submissions for the picture.
When you click the image button how about if there is an "Image ID" field where you can enter an image number similar to how you enter the "Primary Image ID".

Featuring a "hut of the week" on the front page
... came to my mind after seeing a hut as picture of the day.
There are some very valuable hut pages on SP, it's a pity not to feature them.
More interesting than one of the many pictures of the moment, day, week and so on.3 votes -
Make route pages printer-friendly
Add a "printer-friendly" link to route pages that would strip out the images and present only the text.

Keep under construction pages out of the what's new page.
How about if the first time and only the first time a page moves from under construction to not under construction it goes on the what's new page and gets the current date.
18 votesHave to work out how to add them into the what’s new page the first time, and the first time only, once not under construction.

Fixing MBPost...
Due to my apparently brilliant suggestion to add the feature in which we are discussing right now, the MBPost link has disappeared...
The main idea is to find a way to keep it alive possibly in another place !
Another concern (not the least !) is that many people are experiencing problems to register on MBPost. For some reason Chaberton managed, but many others not.
We would appreciate if MBpost was maintained, I agree the lack of interest is flagrant... but not fixing the problems for sure won't help...6 votes -
Dynamic conditions reporting on routes, mountains or areas
I would like a special section on the primary object types for conditions reports updates. Let's say I attempt one of Chad's mountains, but miss the summit due to closed trailhead, rockslide, or deep snow. It would be nice to have an area where temporary conditions of the mountain/route/area can be readily updated by members. Even a nice green (default), yellow (alert) or red (no can do) indicator on the main object page could alert page visitors to an issue which may impact their visit.
Currently summit logs and updates sections do an insufficient job of fulfilling this need.

Will have to think about how to best implement this. Should be doable though.

"Bookmarks" or "favorites" or "Tag" for later
Allow pages to be "bookmarked" or marked as "favorite" and have them stored in a list to come back to later.

Give page owners the ability to share power points with admins and editors on a page. And display the editors too.
Owners can share a page more equitably by splitting power points with admins and editors. Probably needs a mechanism for the latter to verify what has been done and be notified if it changes.

Improve System Of Baseline Page Scores For Areas, Mountains, Rocks, Route Pages
Each of these types of pages have default categories/sections during the creation process, such as OVERVIEW, GETTING THERE, CAMPING, RED TAPE, etc. Perhaps a better page score should be given as a baseline starting score for those pages utilizing those each of those categories. Adding images to the page can help that baseline score, too, although number of images or quality of images should not. Then the page votes from that point will help give further distinction to the page.
In example, a Mountain page is created which has an overview but nothing else. It starts with a baseline page…

Show Editors on the Page
When assigning editors to a page, it would be nice if they displayed as well. Perhaps Something like "Created by: Josh Lewis , Contributors: Montana Matt, Dow Williams, and Sarah Simon" (contributors being the editors). This way folks can still get credit for their additions. And if you don't believe a editor deserves credit... why do you give them edit permission in the first place? ;-)

Notification of Summit Log signing
One of these options when someone signs a summit log for a page you own. :
1) Email notification
2) Notification on your profile page, similar to comments on your objects.Perhaps even a global option where you can sign up to get notified (email or within your profile page) when a mountain of your choosing has been signed.
